Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
