One extended journey through Australia is being halted days after the fatal incident of an senior female passenger who was left behind by the vessel on a distant island.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the party for a rest. The ship left without her and came back several hours later after the personnel became aware the lady was unaccounted for.

A large-scale rescue mission discovered her body the following day.

Officials are investigating the incident, together with investigators and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the shipping company announced that travelers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the continuation of the cruise had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior technical problems".

In a statement, he added that travelers would be provided a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Officials also published an updated communication, and said they had "delivered a notice to the Master" banning any further travelers from getting on the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the vessel in the port city upon its arrival.

Relatives Reaction

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her relatives was "shocked and saddened that the liner left Lizard Island after an planned tour without my mum".

Through her comments, she characterized her mum as an "active elderly person" who was a participant of a hiking group.

"According to scant information we have been told, it appears that there was a breakdown of responsibility and basic judgment," she stated.

She continued that she hoped the inquiry would be able to identify what "the operator should have performed that might have protected Mother's existence".

"We understand from the authorities that it was a extremely warm afternoon, and she became unwell on the hill climb," she revealed.

"They requested her to head down, alone. Then the vessel left, reportedly without performing a passenger count.

Operator Reaction
