Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
